Discover Yourself.

We believe that every outdoor space should be a safe queer space.

However, for a rainbow of different reasons, queer people across the nation lack access to safe outdoor experiences. Out and About Travels (since we’re friends, you can call us OAT) is here to bridge that gap and make the outdoors a safe, gay haven! The foundation of our mission has three distinct roots:

  • Explore the Outdoors.

We believe that being in nature is vital to living a happy, healthy life; however, we know that many people in the LGBTQ+ community lack access to the outdoors. OAT seeks to create a community that makes being in nature as safe, fun, inclusive, and accessible as possible.

  • Examine Queer History.

Each OAT trip takes the opportunity to discuss different aspects of queer history and advocacy. We believe that every LGBTQ+ individual needs an understanding of our collective past before they can actively contribute to our community today. Our goal is to help participants examine our past, then take what they’ve discovered and apply it to their lives and communities today.

  • Discover Yourself.

Every OAT trip is an opportunity to discover new sides to yourself and expand your skills. We want to create a space where each participant feels comfortable to be vulnerable with their peers, develop new skills, explore different aspects of their personalities, and build lifelong communities. We believe that the outdoors is the best place to start looking inward.
